Jaipur Traffic Police is responsible for smooth & safe management of traffic in Jaipur. Jaipur, with a population of more than 39,10,570 lakhs and a total registered vehicular count of more than 16,50,566 lakhs till April 2011, presents immense challenges to the city traffic police. For effective management, the organization, 795 men strong, is headed by a Deputy Commissioner of Police Traffic,Jaipur with an Addl.D.C.P. as second in command for assistance. The executive force includes ACP's, Inspectors, Sub-Inspectors, Assistant Sub-Inspectors, Head Constables and Constables. For effective control over the city traffic, the city has been divided into four Zones - East, West, North & South, each zone headed by an Inspector & Supervised by a ACP. The area of all four Zones is as under - East:- Starting from Agra Road ,Goner T-Point, Right side of old city wall up to Ajmeri Gate, Straight Tonk Road covering entire left side area touching Jhalana hills up to laxmi Mandir & then the area left of Sawai Madhopur railway line. Starting from Kartarpura crossing up to Sanganer. Entire area covering Jurisdiction of P.S. Sanganer Sadar,kanota, Bassi etc. West:- The Entire left side of Chandpol Gate, Sanjay circle, Sindhi Camp bus stand, Polovictory, Khasa Kothi, Railway Station, Khathipura Road, Vaishali Nagar,Sirsi Road, Chinkara Canteen, Jhothwara Road, Collectrate, Banipak, Shastri Nagar, Bhatta Basti, Vidhadhar Nagar, Sikar Road, Kakwar Road, Banar Road, Harmara, Chomu, Bagru, Kalwar etc. North:- Starting of Chandpol Gate, Chandpole Bazar, Choti Copar, New Gate, Bari Chopar, Ramganj Chopar, Galta Gate, Ajmeri Gate in Side, New Gate in Side, Saganeri Gate in side, Old City wall straight Choura Rasta, City Palace,Brahampuri upto Amber City area, Jhori Bazar, Delhi By Pass upto P.S. Amer Jurisdiction etc. South:-

Partners in traffic control The JMC or the Jaipur Municipal Corporation / Nagar Nigam Jaipur looks after maintainence of roads, road lights, and removal of encroachments on the roads inside the walled city. The PWD or the Public Works Department undertakes construction of Road Lights, Road maintenance, Road Signal Lights and Roads. The Transport Department manages Vehicle Registration, Driver License, Puching Driver License, Permits to Transport-vehicles and also frames Policies for Traffic control. The Traffic Control Board was constituted by the Government of Rajasthan for coordination between these agencies & broader policy framework & management of traffic in Jaipur. |
